"Renaissance woman CAT Susch is a technology architect by trade, a composer/musician and needle artist by obsession. Spanning a 20 year career in technology, CAT has worked in Consulting, financial services and most recently at an “old” media company that’s transitioning into a “new” media company.

Since childhood, CAT has been an avid needle artist crafting beautiful creations, and teaching at local craft stores and “stitch and bitch” groups around her home in the NY suburbs. With filmmaker husband Eric, they work together to marry CAT’s talents in needle arts / technology with Eric’s expertise in film/video production. The result is the very popular niche podcast Let’s Knit2gether."

You want to sell advertising and sponsorships into your content, but it's not your area of expertise. Susan artfully covers everything you need to know to successfully pitch your content to an agency or marketer. Susan's candor and insight combined with running an interactive session make this a must-attend event. Learn how to find and engage prospects with a professionally developed pitch. Understand how agencies work with clients and exactly whom you should pitch. Walk through a mock introduction call so you'll know just what to say. Understand the client's strategy by asking the right revealing questions so you can craft a proposal that gets to "yes!" Review various forms of advertising and how to combine online and audio/video ads to create a robust sponsorship program that performs for your advertiser and shows ROI, even if your audience numbers are small. Learn to create value beyond CPM to maximize revenue. Ad units, standard rates and advertising buzzwords will be explained. Susan explains insertion orders, media kits, collecting and presenting demographic profiles, RFP's, proposal generation and invoicing. Most importantly, you'll learn how to be pleasingly persistent, handle rejection and keep motivated. You will leave feeling informed, organized and confident about presenting your show to sponsors.
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
In order to get your message heard online, it's important to regularly create compelling content that is relevant to your market. But what does it take to break through the noise, attract your target audience and keep them coming back again and again? In this session you'll discover three crucial ingredients for creating effective content that builds a large and loyal audience. The right balance of all three ingredients brings exponential success. Yet most show producers neglect at least one (and often even two) of the three ingredients. Using examples from successful podcasts and online content creators, Jason will demonstrate how to incorporate all three principles to form the right balance for your show. You'll also learn how to apply these principles to any web site or brand to increase market loyalty. Join us in this session and find out which three ingredients form the magic triad.
3:15 PM - 4:15 PM
Video provides a platform for your message that can be found on any of the video sharing sites to which you publish - that's obvious. Less obvious is that by distributing your videos to multiple sites, you provide multiple opportunities for someone searching for content through search engines such as Google, Yahoo! Ask, and MSN to find your information. In fact, with Google your video results might even rank higher than text results on that same topic. Strategically tagging your videos with the most relevant, searchable keywords will do wonders for growing your audience. In this session, let an expert in video SEO show you how to choose the best keywords and tags, achieve the highest organic search results for your content, and develop the best landing pages from your distributed content to best engage your audience.
3:15 PM - 4:15 PM
There are many ways to leverage the personal brand build around an audio or video show, of which one is advertising. During this session Philip will be drawing on his experience in the very, very early days of podcasting, with the long-running DV Guys show, which lead to the creation of the Digital Production BuZZ. During the nearly three years he was managing editor of that show, the brand was expanded with related newsletters, news feeds and other ways of drawing attention to the show. You'll learn how to duplicate his success by offering other products alongside your content that will help grow your audience and bring in additional income. You'll also learn how Philip affiliated with CMP, later NewBay Media, and how you can do the same with partnerships that will help you build your brand quickly. The session will include the real world income, expenditure and profit that was made in 20 hours a week. You'll also see how Philip sold the show for a nice profit and how you can do the same with your show!

The WillItBlend.com Story: Successes and Lessons Learned. George Wright has managed to do two things on the Web that advertising execs worldwide have continue to dream about: launch a successful viral video campaign AND make money from it. In November 2006 George was walking past the blender demo room and found sawdust coming out of it. He walked in thinking there was construction underway, but instead found company founder Tom Dickson testing blenders by shoving two-by-four wood planks into the blender. The "Will It Blend?" video series was born and has increased sales over 400% as viewers tuned in to see everything from an iPhone to golf balls being blended. George will talk about what made it work so well and may even have a few surprise demonstrations!
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
If you don't have a marketing budget to increase exposure for your content, it's vital that you learn how to leverage the power of influentials on the Web. First, you'll learn some of the key behaviors of the influential 10 percent (those consumers who tell the rest of the 90 percent of consumers what to read, watch, buy, etc.), and where you can find them. Second, you'll learn the best ways to reach and motivate this important group to evangelize your content. Additionally, through detailed case studies, you'll see how several startup publishers grew their audiences exponentially in only a few months by building widgets and unique tools, creating viral campaigns, tapping social communities, and empowering their most loyal users. Remember this: if you want an audience to come to your site, you must first go to them and lure them with a relevant and valuable invitation. After this workshop, you'll leave fully prepared to get started.
11:45 AM - 12:45 PM
You have a camcorder, or, maybe even a cell phone with a video camera. You post your videos up online and perhaps even participate in "life streaming" and video communities like Ustream, Seesmic, or Justin.tv. But you don't have as many viewers as geek star Chris Pirillo and you're wondering how to take your videoblogging/life streaming up a notch. This session is for you! Robert will cover writing a better blog, why photography is important, working various communities to get exposure and promotion and how to get noticed by doing all of this well. This is an opportunity to learn how to build a videoblog that will get noticed in an ever-crowded field and have fun creating it.
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Andrew Lock has been involved in creating media for many years including TV production. In this high energy session, Andrew will dissect an episode of his online video show and reveal why each element of production is there, and what 'hidden' purpose it serves. After attending this step-by-step presentation, you'll be able to use his exact formula and blueprint to create your own show that will attract viewers and keep your audience engaged.
3:15 PM - 4:15 PM
Tom will present new data from Edison Media Research on the composition of the audience for downloadable media (both audio and video). He will also provide brand new research on just who hears and sees advertising messages in podcasts, and how effective these might be. The workshop will conclude with comparisons to effectiveness measures for other media, data on the impact of sponsorships, and tips on how to target the right sponsors and maximize the effectiveness of their campaigns on your downloadable media programming.

Zadi Diaz and Steve Woolf are the minds behind (and in Zadi's case, the host of) Epic Fu, the groundbreaking video podcast about art, culture and all things Internet. Sunny Gault will interview these two new media mavens and discuss how they are building a loyal community of fans around their content. Find out how they are creating shows around subjects they are passionate about and at the same time, generating revenue as a business. Sunny will also ask them about their recent business developments and what they see as the opportunities for podcasters and online video creators in the year ahead.
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Join us as we discuss how to write, shoot, edit, and shape your "how to" video into a tight professional story that looks and sounds as good as anything on broadcast TV. We've been producing our show Let's Knit2gether for almost two years now and it gets rave reviews from broadcasters and knitters alike. We'll show you what we've been doing this past year, what's worked, the mistakes we've made, and all the challenges along the way. We'll also explore creative storytelling techniques, translating a knitting pattern into a video sequence, creative editing, interviewing techniques, and more. If you want to take your video podcast to the next level, then this session is for you. Niche or broad audience show creators will all find something they can use in their own content during this workshop.
11:45 AM - 12:45 PM
You may think you need expensive HD video cameras and a Ph.D in video editing software to create interesting content. But no! Inexpensive video cameras available on many cell phones today can be used to tell stories without a lot of editing and without expensive lighting and time-intensive pre-planning. In this session, you'll learn how to convey your ideas and stories in a way that will capture the attention of the viewer and keep them coming back for more. Practical tips for mobile video blogging will be discussed so that you can start creating content the moment you step outside the workshop door. You'll also learn the best places to post your content, how to best present the video clips on your website or blog, and how to get attention for your media early-on.
11:45 AM - 12:45 PM
So you have a podcast, it's on iTunes and it's even popular! Now you want to start monetizing it by getting sponsors. What do you show to your sponsors to convince them that your podcast is worthy of their tight advertising budget? Numbers, numbers, numbers! You need to show potential sponsors, investment groups and anyone that will help you monetize your podcast how popular it really is by showing them a variety of statistics about your podcast. Do you know where your viewers are coming from? What's their demographics? How many are on iTunes? How many are using Google reader? What's your reach? What is reach? What about the videos you upload to MySpace and YouTube? How do you track those? In this session, you will learn about three services which can provide you that information, plus lots more. Marcelo Lewin, "Chief Pixel Head" at PixelHeadsNetwork.com will show you how to use FeedBurner.com, PodTrac.com and TubeMogul.com to get the stats you need for your podcasts. At the end of this workshop you'll have the knowledge you need to approach potential sponsors confidently.
